Welcome to Cited.in.

These Terms of Service explain the rules for using our website and services. By accessing or using Cited.in, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. Who we are

Cited.in is an online quote library that lets people discover, save, and submit quotes from authors, public figures, and other speakers.

Cited.in (the “Site”) is owned and operated by PLACEMENT LABS, LLC, a Florida limited liability company. Cited.in is an affiliated project of PLACEMENT LABS, LLC.

In these Terms:

  • “Cited.in”, “Cited”, “we”, “us”, and “our” mean PLACEMENT LABS, LLC and its affiliated project Cited.in
  • “You” and “your” mean any person or entity that accesses or uses Cited.in

2. Eligibility and account registration

You may browse Cited.in without creating an account. Some features, such as saving quotes or submitting quotes, may require registration.

By using the Site, you confirm that:

  • You are at least 13 years old
  • You are legally able to enter into these Terms
  • Any information you provide during registration is accurate and complete, and you will keep it up to date
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity under your account

You agree to notify us promptly if you suspect any unauthorized access or use of your account. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe present a risk to the Site or other users.

3. Use of the service

You may use Cited.in only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.

You agree that you will not:

  • Use the Site in any way that violates any applicable law or regulation
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Site, user accounts, or related systems
  • Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the Site
  • Use any automated means, including bots, scrapers, or spiders, to access or collect data from the Site, except as allowed by a public application programming interface or our robots rules
  • Use the Site to send spam, solicitations, or other unwanted communications

We may modify, limit, or discontinue any part of Cited.in at any time.

4. Quotes and user submitted content

Cited.in displays quotes and related information drawn from several sources, including:

  • Public domain texts
  • Reputable public sources such as books, interviews, news sites, and public speeches
  • Submissions from users of the Site

When you submit any content to Cited.in, including quotes, attributions, tags, topics, notes, comments, or other material (“User Content”), you represent and warrant that:

  • You have all rights necessary to submit the User Content
  • The User Content does not infringe or violate the rights of any third party, including copyright, trademark, privacy, or publicity rights
  • The User Content is lawful and does not contain unlawful, defamatory, hateful, threatening, or abusive material
  • The User Content complies with these Terms and any guidelines posted on the Site

By submitting User Content, you grant Cited.in and PLACEMENT LABS, LLC a worldwide, royalty free, transferable, sublicensable, non exclusive license to use, host, store, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, display, and distribute your User Content in connection with operating, improving, and promoting Cited.in and related services.

This license remains in effect while your User Content is available on the Site. You may contact us to request removal of specific User Content. We will make reasonable efforts to comply with such requests where feasible, subject to caching, backups, technical limitations, and legal obligations.

You understand and agree that:

  • We are not required to display any User Content
  • We may edit, format, refuse, or remove any User Content at our discretion
  • We are not responsible for any loss or damage arising from User Content posted by you or others

5. No endorsement or affiliation

Cited.in features quotes from authors, speakers, public figures, organizations, and other entities.

The use of a name, likeness, image, biography, or quote on Cited.in does not mean that person or entity:

  • Endorses Cited.in or PLACEMENT LABS, LLC
  • Is affiliated with Cited.in or PLACEMENT LABS, LLC
  • Has reviewed or approved any content on the Site

All names, trademarks, service marks, logos, images, and other identifiers remain the property of their respective owners. They are used only for purposes of identification, commentary, and reference.

6. Content accuracy and informational purpose

We work to keep quotes, attributions, and topics accurate and organized, but we do not promise that every item is correct, complete, or free of errors.

You understand and agree that:

  • Quotes may be paraphrased, edited for clarity, or presented without full context
  • Attributions and dates may be incomplete or uncertain, especially for historical or widely circulated quotes
  • Cited.in is provided for entertainment, inspiration, and general information

Nothing on Cited.in is intended as professional advice, including legal, financial, medical, mental health, or other professional advice. You are responsible for how you choose to use or rely on any content on the Site.

7. Intellectual property

Except for User Content and third party content as described in these Terms, all content on Cited.in, including the Site design, interface, code, and compilation and arrangement of content, is owned by or licensed to PLACEMENT LABS, LLC and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may:

  • Access and view the Site and its content for personal, noncommercial use
  • Share links to quotes or pages on Cited.in
  • Use the Site’s features in the normal course of its operation

You may not, without prior written permission from PLACEMENT LABS, LLC:

  • Copy, reproduce, or distribute substantial portions of the Site or its database
  • Use any data mining, robots, or similar methods to extract data at scale
  • Use Cited.in content to create a competing quote database or similar service

8. Image licensing and attribution

Images displayed on Cited.in are sourced from Wikimedia Commons and used under compatible licenses that permit commercial use. We only use images licensed under:

  • Public Domain, No Known Copyright Restrictions, or Creative Commons Zero (CC0)
  • Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) versions 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, and 4.0
  • Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike (CC BY SA) versions 2.0, 3.0, 3.0 DE, and 4.0

All images that require attribution display proper attribution information. This may include the author name, license type, and links to the original source and license terms. Images are served directly from Wikimedia Commons servers where possible to support accurate source tracking. All images remain the property of their respective rights holders and are used in accordance with their license terms.

If you are a rights holder and believe an image or attribution is incorrect or improperly used, please contact us using the information in the “Contact us” section below. We will review and respond as appropriate.

9. Copyright complaints

We respect the intellectual property rights of others and expect our users to do the same.

If you believe that content on Cited.in infringes your copyright, please send us a written notice that includes:

  • Your name and contact information, and if you act on behalf of someone else, a statement of your authority to act
  • A description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed
  • The exact URL or other specific location on Cited.in where the allegedly infringing content appears
  • A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
  • A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act for the copyright owner
  • Your physical or electronic signature

We do not control and are not responsible for:

  • Any products, services, or information they provide
  • Any loss or damage that may arise from your use of them

Your use of third party sites and services is at your own risk and subject to their own terms and policies.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The Site and all content and services available through it are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cited.in, PLACEMENT LABS, LLC, and their owners, members, managers, directors, employees, and agents disclaim all warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. This includes implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non infringement.

Without limiting the above, we do not warrant that:

  • The Site will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of errors
  • The content will be accurate, complete, or reliable
  • Any defects will be corrected

You use Cited.in at your own risk.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cited.in, PLACEMENT LABS, LLC, and their owners, members, managers, directors, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. This includes any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising out of or related to:

  • Your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Site
  • Any conduct or content of any third party on the Site
  • Any content obtained from the Site
  • Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content

In no event will the total liability of Cited.in and PLACEMENT LABS, LLC for all claims relating to the Site exceed the amount you have paid to us in the past twelve months, if any.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some limitations above may not apply to you.

13. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Cited.in, PLACEMENT LABS, LLC, and their owners, members, managers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses. This includes reasonable attorney fees arising out of or in any way related to:

  • Your access to or use of the Site
  • Your User Content
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any rights of another person or entity

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.

If we make material changes, we may provide additional notice, such as a notice on the Site or an email to registered users. Your continued use of Cited.in after the revised Terms are posted means that you accept the changes.

15. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms and any dispute that arises out of or relates to them or the Site will be governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules.

You agree that any legal action or proceeding arising out of or related to these Terms or the Site will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Florida. You consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
